About the Role Physical Sensory Support (PSS) is a targeted specialist teaching service for defined and vulnerable Surrey children and young people (CYP) and their educational establishments; students studying in Surrey FE and HE establishments where our input is identified and agreed. The service identifies and meets individual and organisational need and supports statutory duties and provision and achievement. PSS operates in a fast paced, complex interpersonal environment involving CYP with high level and complex needs. PSS works with their families, schools and educational settings, including FE/HE and with other professionals and organisations. Education, Training and work qualifications expected: ##Degree level education with Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent ##Mandatory Qualification in Teaching Children with HI or willing to undertake training within three years of taking up the post. These will be assessed via application form and interview. Knowledge overview for candidate: ##Detailed and contemporary knowledge and understanding of the nature of hearing impairment and the impact on social, emotional, cognitive and behavioural development. ##Detailed knowledge of audiological equipment and ability to implement Quality Standards for Audiology. ##Detailed and contemporary knowledge and understanding of the statutory framework for education, particularly in relation to SEND and expectations to meet need in accordance with the Equality Act. ##Detailed and contemporary knowledge of legislation and processes pertinent to FE/HE.
