Design Principal – Accessibility and Inclusive Design

£56,939 per annum

Permanent

Role Summary

We’re looking for a design principal, to join our design team, who will be the inclusive design champion for the organisation.

You will support LLDC’s own development projects as well as provide advice and guidance to the Planning Policy and Decisions Team on planning applications received. You will also facilitate and manage LLDC’s engagement with the Built Environment Access Panel (BEAP) ensuring that all strategic schemes and activity are brought to the panel for independent review.

In this role, you will help ensure that LLDC continue to create inclusive developments and neighbourhoods that consider the needs of all end users including disabled and older people.

The Person

It is essential that you have experience of working on similarly complex and high-profile projects. You will need to demonstrate your ability to find innovative and often pragmatic solutions that deliver genuinely inclusive designs as well as being able to demonstrate how designing inclusively from the outset delivers value for money.

A qualification in accessibility or inclusive design in the built environment and membership of the National Register of Access Consultants are desirable.

Formed in April 2012, the London Legacy Development Corporation’s purpose is to use the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of the London 2012 Games and the creation of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to develop a dynamic new heart for east London, creating opportunities for local people and driving innovation and growth in London and the UK. The Legacy Corporation is responsible for delivering one of the most important legacy promises made in the original London 2012 Games bid. This pledge concerns the physical legacy of the Games – the long-term planning, development, management and maintenance of the Park and its impact on the surrounding area after the London 2012 Games.
