BID Services is a charity. We work in partnership with children, young people, adults and their families and carers. We support people who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Visually Impaired, have a Dual Sensory Loss or other disability.

IAG/Technical Assistant – Solihull

Grade 5: £19,961 pro-rata per annum
22.5 hours per week across 5 days

We are recruiting for an Information, Advice and Guidance/Technical Assistant to provide high quality service to our service users who are deaf, deafened, or hard of hearing or have a visual impairment within Solihull area.

You will be providing a person centred, information and advice service at the IAG drop-in service at the Hubs (Chelmsley Wood and Solihull) as and when required or at other community-based localities, carrying out a contact assessments, triage service users, providing advice or signposting to other services and updating contact assessments. As part of the role you will also be responsible to provide practical and impartial advice and guidance on technical (assistive) equipment to deaf, deafened and hard of hearing service users, develop relationships with equipment manufacturers and suppliers and to assist the Technical Officer to take stock and create follow up plans.

To be successful for the role you will have experience of working with people who have a sensory loss, have previous experience in providing Information, Advice and Guidance, undertaking assessments/risk assessments and delivering presentations to a wider audience. Excellent communication, IT and administration skills are required for this post. You will also be qualified to BSL Level 2 and related qualifications (such as Visual Impairment Training/ Hearing Impairment Training) is required. Flexibility needed as the successful applicant will be required to work out of hours occasionally.
