Description

Purpose of the role: To offer companionship, friendship and support to members of the deaf community

Key tasks and responsibilities: To develop and promote a positive relationship with the service user

Support raise self esteem through a positive befriending relationship

Support build confidence to encourage independent social interaction

Contact service user face to face, video call or contact through SMS

Receive training

Receive 2 monthly 1:1s

Experience and Skills:

Has an understanding of the difficulties that arise when living with a hearing loss

Good listening and communication skills

Manage appropriate boundaries in the befriending relationship

Be Consistent and dependable when working with the service user

Time commitment/availability: Arrange to contact or meet the service user weekly or bi-weekly on a regular basis, agree how you will contact them, face to face or video call Location:
