This special event takes place every two years and is dedicated to empowerment, networking, and youth work for deafblind youth. The last camp was held in Belgium in 2022 and here we are taking the next step with more participants and more in-depth topics.
The European Deafblind Youth Camp 2024 will take place from 21 to 31 July in Germany, exactly in Oer-Erkenschwick, a town in the Ruhr area, which lay across western Germany and is close to the cities of Dortmund, Essen, Dusseldorf and Munster. The Ruhr area impresses with its fascinating mix of industrial history, diverse culture and natural beauty.
The program, carefully designed by deafblind team members, is extremely diverse. The 11-day camp is based on a pedagogical concept of non-formal education, where participants are active learners rather than passive listeners. It includes activities, games, art, performances, and parties. Each session lasts about 1 hour before there is a break.
The communication will be mainly in tactile
sign language and written English. Please read in an announcement document below and camp website for more details on your accessibility needs.

- Website link for more details about the camp: https://edbyouth.org/camp Applicant criteria: Deafblind individual, aged 18-35. Can accept a Deafblind assistant free of charge. Application method: Email camp24@edbyouth.org to ask for a registration form. On this form you will need to share infromation about yourself (and deafblind assistant if bringing). After registering you will be placed in a waiting list and you will receive confirmation of your place some time after 15th of May. Deadline for application: 15th of May. Don't book any travel before you receive confirmation of your place. Notes: The camp is accpeting individuals from each country, meaning two people from UK. Depending on which country of UK you live in and a mode of transport (train or plane), you will be entited to a transport grant. The cost for a person is 390 euros. Food and accommodation are included.
