What is it?
This study will explore real experiences of deaf young people using photography (a method called ‘photovoice’) to share your views on mental health. For example, what helps you stay well and how you manage tough times. Mental health is about feeling able to handle life, learn, work, and make a positive difference.
You can take part if you:

• Live in Greater London
• Are Deaf, Deafened, or Hard of Hearing
• Use English, Sign Supported English (SSE), or British Sign Language (BSL)
• Are able to give consent independently
• Are not currently receiving in-patient mental health treatment
What to expect:
•Complete a short questionnaire
•Join two group sessions in August
•First session (2 hours): learn about ethical photography
•Take some photos that show your thoughts about mental health
•Second session (3 hours): share your photos and talk about them with two facilitators(a researcher and a Deaf community member) and other Deaf young people aged 18–25
•You will be given £15 per session (£30 for two sessions) to cover your travel expenses
•You’ll have the chance to display your photos at a special gallery event (only if you want to, it’s completely your choice!)
