Maggie Nelson: Like Love

Event start date May

2024

Maggie Nelson discusses her new collection of spirited essays on themes including friendship, feminism, tributes and transgressions in conversation with Shon Faye.

Like Love is a momentous, raucous collection of essays drawn from twenty years of Maggie Nelson’s genre-defying work.

These profiles, reviews, remembrances, tributes and critical essays, as well as several conversations with friends and idols, bring to life Nelson’s passion for dialogue and dissent.

Themes include intergenerational exchange, love and friendship, feminist and queer issues, subversion, transgression and perversity, and forces that feed or impede certain bodies and creators.

Maggie Nelson is the author of several books of prose and poetry including The Red Parts, Bluets, the National Book Critics Circle Award–winner The Argonauts, and On Freedom. She teaches at the University of Southern California and lives in Los Angeles.

Shon Faye is a writer, presenter and the author of the award-winning Sunday Times bestseller The Transgender Issue, which was first published in 2021 and has since been or is due to be published in seven languages. She also hosted the critically acclaimed LGBTQ+ history podcast, Call Me Mother.

She is currently working on her second book, is a co-presenter on Novara Media’s news programme and writes an advice column at US Vogue.
