This course is for those with no prior knowledge of BSL. It will step you through the basics and by the end you will be able to communicate with Deaf people in British Sign Language on a range of simple topics using everyday language. You will gain confidence in signing and understanding (production and reception) information in British Sign Language.
By the end of the course you will be able to understand a range of signs, hold a conversation, follow directions and give basic descriptions about yourself and your life in British Sign Language. The qualification is split into three units that can be taken separately. To gain the full Level 1 Award in British Sign Language candidates must pass all units.
